During a recent post-earnings financial call, Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, stated that they are indeed working on future installments of the Destiny series. “Work has also begun on future expansion packs, as well as on our next full game release.” This isn’t terribly surprising, during the game’s development, Bungie built up the idea that Destiny would be an ongoing project that will build up its universe as games and gaming technology evolve. While I’m sure the in-house sequel memo went out the day Destiny released, I do find it surprising that they would be so upfront about it at this time. Destiny, as it stands today, has over 9.5 million registered players, with more joining every day. Opinions of the game remain somewhat split among critics, and it has received some flack regarding the launching of some in-game events, but it seems to be hitting all the right buttons for those looking for a sci-fi shooter with great ambiance.
